Nov 15th- Exploratory - Wind Turbines

The Xplore class continued with their building and testing of wind turbines, varying size and number of blades. The output of a Lego RCX motor, which acts as a generator, was fed into a 2700 ohm load.

Power was calculated using  P= VxV/R.

There were issues with the blades coming out of the insulation foam used as a hub.

I suggested in the future using the 2" closed cell foam backer rod( http://www.bestmaterials.com/detail.aspx?ID=16371 ) as suggested by Kidwind- see http://www.rechargelabs.org/macgyver-windmill-class-pack .
